Is Ella and Mila Cruelty-Free?

Does Ella and Mila test on animals or sell in China?

Ella and Mila is a well-known nail polish company that can be found in drugstores across America. But is Ella and Mila cruelty-free or do they test on animals?

For a company to be considered cruelty-free they have to meet all of the following criteria:

  • Do not test any of their products or ingredients on animals
  • Don’t allow others to test on their behalf
  • Do not sell in a country where animal testing is required.

After doing a bit of research, I found that Ella and Mila does meet the above cruelty-free requirements and is considered to be a cruelty-free nail polish brand.

Let’s look into what all of that really means.

Is Ella and Mila Certified Cruelty-Free?

When researching a brand’s cruelty-free status my first stop is the certified cruelty-free list. There are three organizations that give official certifications to brands around the world: Leaping Bunny, Peta, and Choose Cruelty-Free.

Ella and Mila is certified cruelty-free by Peta and Leaping Bunny

It’s wonderful that they are Leaping Bunny certified. They do a thorough vetting process and are the gold-standard when it comes to cruelty-free certifications. Honestly, my research could stop here but I want to give you as much information about Ella and Mila as possible.

Does Ella and Mila Test on Animals?

The next step in my research is going directly to the company’s animal testing policy to see where they stand. Ella and Mila’s policy can be found in the ‘About’ section of their website. Here is an excerpt:

“Like their nail lacquer, these lippies are also vegan, cruelty-free, and proudly made in the USA.  The deeply-admired luxury beauty brand continues to allure the world with its creamy formula and dazzling array of colors.”
